Nellie Elizabeth Legate

AIKEN – Nellie Elizabeth Rose Legate, 89, of Aiken, beloved wife to the late Joe Donaghey Legate, died September 21. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home with the Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Legate was born in Rosa, AR, to the late Harry Alfred and Maude Ester Vance Rose. She was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for fifty years. She also studied and taught art. Survivors include her beloved sons, Gary Andrew (Shirley) Legate, Sr. and David Arnold Legate, of Aiken, SC. Other survivors include her grandchildren Lisa Dawn Legate, Gary A. Legate, Jr., Ron Cooper, Jr., Chris Langley, and Carla Dunbar; sixteen great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild; brother John Wesley Rose, Winslow, AZ, half-brother Wayne Rose, Searcy, AR. Pallbearers will be Gary A. Legate, Jr., Ron Cooper, Jr., Chris Langley, Joseph McConnell, Art Hanna, and Grady Buzhard, honorary pallbearers will be the Foreman Memorial Baptist Sunday School Class. Memorials may be sent to Foreman Memorial Baptist Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Sunday from 5- 7 at Shellhouse- Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
