Eleanor Gooden Bookstaver

AIKEN - Mrs. Eleanor Gooden Bookstaver, 86, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday at Millbrook Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Eddie Leopard officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Harry Harmon, Tom McClellan, Jim Moore, Greg Robinson, Vince Cloud, Wallace Bland. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aiken Women's Heart Board. Mrs. Bookstaver was born in New Castle, DE, a daughter of the late Alfred Harris and Estelle Shiles Gooden. A resident of Aiken since 1952, she was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church, sang in the church choir, and organized the Aiken Women's Heart Board. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Lois (Bill) Johnson, West Columbia, SC; two sons, Paul (Debra) Bookstaver, Aiken, David (Susan) Bookstaver, N. Augusta; grandchildren, Michael (Tabitha) Johnson, Brandon (Nicole) Bookstaver, Rebecca Bookstaver, Morgan Bookstaver; great grandchildren, Hayden, Elija and Vera Johnson; brother, Alfred Harris Gooden, Jr., Cecilton, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harry Bookstaver.
