NEW ELLENTON, SC -- Mr. Larry Keith Gardner, 63, left the Earth to join the Lord on June 4th, 2012. Mr. Gardner fought the battle against lung disease for many years and the Lord came and said it was his time to go. Mr. Gardner was born to the late Martha Ruth Gardner and Larry Jackson Gardner of Lancaster, SC on September 7th, 1948. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War. He was a man that loved his family and supported them in any way possible. Mr. Gardner was a member of the Hollow Creek Baptist Church, a former millwright at SRS, Plumber with Bradley Plumbing & Heating and retired from the Aiken County School District. Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Gardner; a daughter, Naria Louise McCollum, Aiken, SC; a son, Daniel (Candy) Gardner, Aiken; grandson, Tommy McCollum, Aiken; great-granddaughter, Melissa Rene´ Gardner, Aiken and grandkids, Carlie and Josh Reeves of Dallas, NC; a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Balcum, Lancaster, SC; brothers, Jimmy and Lee Gardner both of Lancaster, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Milissa Gardner Reeves of Dallas, NC and a sister, Corina Duncan of Lancaster, SC. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 7th, 2012 at 11 o'clock in the chapel of Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Daniel Gardner, Tommy McCollum, Robbie Robinson, Mark Arbaugh, Chad Ball and Farzon Hanif. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hollow Creek Baptist Church, 270 Independent Blvd., Aiken, SC.
