JACKSON, SC- VIRGIL LACY BARTON, 73, died on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at his residence. Virgil was born in Louisville, KY to the Late Mary Louise Dixson Barton and James Earl Barton. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean war. He was a maintenance technician for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Thornton of Bedford, KY; a son, Earl Scott (Lisa) Barton of Ghent, KY; a step- sister, Patty Heaps of New Albany, IN; 6 grandchildren, Travis Barton, Trina McMahan, Troy Wright, Kristen Thornton, Angie Heaps, and Alicia Heaps; 4 great- grandchildren, Summer Rossignol, Traiten Barton, Katlyn Wright, and Brayden Wright; and a brother, James Barton of Augusta, GA.
