Kenneth G. Hennings, Sr.

Aiken, SC – Mr. Kenneth Hennings, Sr., 82, of Aiken, SC, beloved husband of 61 years to Alice Hennings. entered into rest on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he moved to Aiken in 1973 and later retired from EZ Go Textron. He was the son of the late Emma and James Hennings of Elizabeth, NJ. He was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. For many years, he volunteered and supported many charitable groups, including St. Vincent de Paul, Mended Hearts of Aiken, and St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. He was instrumental in implementing a Thanksgiving dinner program for people in need of assistance. In his younger years he was a Cub Scout Master. He sang in the Elizabeth (New Jersey) Community Choral Group. He was a member and leader in the Augusta American Society of Safety Engineers. He is preceded in death by beloved wife Alice and daughter, Lori who was the mother of two of his grandchildren, Heather and Justin Toole. Family members include, two sons and their wives, Kenneth Hennings, Jr. (Kathryn) and Robert Hennings (Paula); granddaughter Mary Hennings Bernat (Michael) and great-grandson Thomas; grandson Justin Toole (Christie) and great-grandsons Shane and Jaxson; granddaughter Heather Toole; grandsons Ross Hennings, Zachary Hennings, and Dylan Hennings. Visitation will be held at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, 715 E. Pine Log Road, Aiken, SC on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, 640 Edrie Street NE, Aiken, SC 29801 with graveside service to follow.
