Otto Herman Morton

AIKEN - Mr. Otto Herman Morton, Jr., 81, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, after a long battle with cancer with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Charles Jenkins and the Reverend Eddie Penland officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Demp Day, Ralph Day, Butch Collie, Brooks Bazzle, Sammy Morton and Craig Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be the Memorial Baptist Men's Sunday School class. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Iola B. Morton; one son, Dale (Stacey) Morton, North Augusta; two daughters, Debra (Lewis) Hudson, Beech Island, Angela Jeffcoat (Tim), North Augusta; four grandchildren, Terry (Renee) Holcombe, Irmo, SC, Casey (Brentt) Ergle, TN, Ryan Sanders and Taylor Sanders, North Augusta; three great grandchildren, Cohen Holcombe, Abby Ergle and Haygen Ergle; one sister, Bessie Emeneker, Aiken; many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Otto was a lifelong resident of Aiken. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. He owned his own construction company for many years and sold Real Estate until the time of his death. He served in the US Naval Reserve for several years. Otto was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank United Hospice for all of their care that was given to Mr. Morton during his illness.
