AIKEN, SC - JAMES BRONSON ARTHUR, 91, widower of Rosa Lee Lane Arthur, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at UniHealth PAC, Aiken.
A native of Aiken County, Mr. Arthur was a son of the late W. Ernest and Alice Rebecca Kneece Arthur. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a retired paint contractor. Mr. Arthur was a member of Highland Pines Baptist Church and the World War II Navy Memorial Club in Washington, DC and the Aiken Mall Walkers.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Wesley Gunter; two grandsons, Jamie (Jill) Gunter and Michael Gunter and a great-granddaughter, Natalia Rose Gunter, all of Aiken; two sisters-in-law, Lizzie Arthur and Lucy Wall; a brother-in-law, A. J. Randall; a number of nieces and nephews and his beloved Chihuahua, Baby. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell, Wyman and Roy Arthur and a sister, Myrtle Holton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Aiken Memorial Gardens with The Rev. Wesley C. Greene officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
