AIKEN, SC – ANNA BELLE MURDAUGH SPENCER, 81, widow of Clarence Porter Spencer, Jr., died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Lodge, SC, Mrs. Spencer was a daughter of the late Charles and Louise Murdaugh. She had lived in Aiken since 1988 and was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church. Mrs. Spencer was formerly very active in the missions programs of the church. Survivors include a son, Scott D. (Lori) Spencer, Charleston, SC, son-in-law, Virgil Sauls, Aiken, six grandchildren, Jennifer (George) Kelley, Aiken, Brian Sauls, Nashville, TN, Tara Wade, Amber Cromer, Travis Wade and Johnny Llewellyn all of Charleston, five great-grandchidren, Jordan and Jacob Kelley, Aiken, Hannah and Ian Jongema, Nashville, TN and Andrew Sauls, Pittsburgh, PA, two sisters, Mary L. (Harold) Rice, Ord, NB, Martha Faye Charpia, Florence, SC, a brother, Leon W. Murdaugh, Walterboro, SC, a sister-in-law, Cecily Murdaugh and her close friends and companion, John Harkins, Aiken. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sauls, a sister, Amaryllis Barwick and a brother, Charles D. Murdaugh. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with The Rev. Michael Dyar officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, SC. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
