AIKEN, SC - BETTY SUE BURNETT, 84, widow of J. D. Burnett, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Cayce, SC, Mrs. Burnett grew up in Greenwood, SC. She was a daughter of the late George Galphin and Ruth Clowdus Griffin. She had lived in Aiken since 1956 and was a longtime secretary at Pinecrest Elementary School, retiring from Aiken County Public Schools. Mrs. Burnett was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and was a former Sunday School teacher and Circle chairperson. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Mary Pickney Outz Chapter in Greenwood, SC.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Lee (Barbara) Burnett and Philip Jennings (Beth) Burnett, all of Aiken; three grandchildren, Philip Kyle Burnett, Kevin Shawn Burnett and Michael Lee Burnett; a step-granddaughter, Amy Jo Roper and three great-grandchildren, Callie, Kayla and Kelsey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM in Greenwood Memorial Park, Greenwood, SC. Pallbearers will be James Perrin Griffin, Melvin Griffin, Donnie Eubanks, Kyle Burnett, Kevin Burnett and Michael Burnett.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Solid Rock Baptist Church, Millbrook Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church or Shriner's Hospital for Children.
