Jackie L. Meeks Mr. Jackie Lanier Meeks, 66, beloved husband of Brenda McAfee Meeks, died Sunday, October 28, at his residence Mr. Meeks was born in Daisy, GA, to the late Wilmer Clayton and Erma Lindsey Meeks. He worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglass. He was an active member of St. John's United Methodist. He was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class, Men's Praise Choir, Senior Adult Coordinator, and Ramp Ministry. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Christ Central, and Shining Light ministries and visitation. Survivors include his daughter, Andrea (John) Downs of Aiken, and son, Lanier (Paige) Meeks of Warner Robins, GA; four grandchildren, Tyler Meeks, Austin Meeks, Carley Downs, and Brianna Downs; one sister, JoAnn (John) Caldwell of Brentwood, TN, and one brother, Winston (Virginia) Meeks of Dublin, GA, and his mother-in-law, Ruth McAfee of Wrightsville, GA, and sister-in-law, Ann Meeks. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Meeks. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., Aiken, SC 29801 or to JMCCF, 107 Crest Point, Warner Robins, GA 31088. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. George Howle, Rev. Sam Marcengill and Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Entombment will take place at 10 a.m. at Aiken Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Ramp Ministries. Honorary pallbearers will be the Asbury Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shellhouse Rivers Funeral Home.
