Roberta Lybrand

AIKEN, SC - Roberta H. Lybrand, age 78, died peacefully at her home on Monday, September 10, 2012 after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Aiken County and spent her years as a dedicated wife and mother raising her family in the Redds Branch area. She is survived by her five children: Thomas (Brenda) Lybrand, Aiken, SC; Robert (Sheryl) Lybrand, Aiken, SC; Susan (Ronald) Reagan, Aiken, SC; Donald (Janet) Lybrand, Aiken, SC; and Charles (Debbie) Lybrand, Roatan, Honduras. Mrs. Lybrand was blessed with her grandchildren; Christie Peterson, Indianapolis, IN; Matt Lybrand, Gridley, CA; Jonathan Todd Parker, Aiken, SC; Katy Partin, Augusta, GA; Joshua Lybrand, Aiken, SC; Christopher Lybrand, Cheyenne, WY. Mrs. Lybrand has six wonderful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two loving and faithful sisters, Neoma Finley, of Martinez, GA, and Kathleen Willis, of Aiken, SC; sister-in-law, Joyce Horne, Martinez, GA; and her brother-in-law, Samuel “Larry” Royster, Shalimar, FL. Mrs. Lybrand was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Willie C. Lybrand, and her brother, Harvey Horne. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Horne and the late Rosa Belle Fulmer. Mrs. Lybrand was employed in the dry cleaning business for over forty years of her career. She was a dedicated Christian member of Redds Branch Baptist Church. Family and friends remember Mrs. Lybrand as an avid cook and she is well remembered in the community for her famous macaroni and cheese casserole and her fresh baked coconut cake. The family will receive friends 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Thursday at Redds Branch Baptist Church, 390 Redds Branch Road, Aiken, SC and the funeral service will follow at the church at 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM with interment in the church cemetery afterwards.
