Maude K. Pinson

AIKEN, SC - Maude Kammer Pinson passed away September 19, 2012; she was 90 years old. Maude was born in New York September 18, 1922 to the late Morris Kammer and Gabrielle Gonin Kammer. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, New York and from City College business school in New York City. She was employed by Coble Dairy as a secretary. She met Paul Pinson, a Merchant Marine officer, at a USO gathering and they were married October 28, 1944. In 1948, they moved to Sumter, South Carolina and subsequently to Greenville, South Carolina, where Maude was secretary to the Chaplain at Donaldson Air Force Base, while Paul resumed Merchant Marine service. In 1952, the family moved to Aiken, South Carolina. In the late 1950’s Maude upgraded her business skills and began a 26-year career at Savannah River Works. She advanced from typist to manuscript editor and illustrator. Maude was a founding member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Area Churches Together Serving. Maude was preceded in death by husband Paul Pinson and brother David Lawrence Kammer. She is survived by sister Armelle Kammer Ward, children Paul Harold Pinson, Jr. (spouse Nancy), John Edward Pinson, Doreen Ann Pinson Paschal (spouse James), Dr. David Michael Pinson (spouse Margie), eight grandchildren – Kathryn Bauer (spouse David), David Brizius (spouse Adria), Daniel Cornetti (spouse Sandra), Hannah Pinson, Haley Pinson, Nathan Pinson, Matthew Pinson, and Laura Pinson - and three great grandchildren – Jakub Brizius, Makayla Cook-Cornetti, and Joseph Cornetti. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home on Pine Log Road in Aiken, SC , followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The family will hold a private entombment in Sunset Memory Gardens.
