AIKEN, SC – RONALD LEE BIBB, 71, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Jean Fox Bibb, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his residence.
Born near Clarksville, TN, Ronald was a son of the late Millard Fillmore II and Alberta Pope Bibb. He attended Austin Peay State University on a full scholarship and graduated with honors in 1962. He accepted employment in Aiken as an assistant engineer in health physics at the Savannah River Plant. In 1967, he went to work for the City of Aiken’s Public Works Department. In 1977, he went to work for the Aiken County Public Service Authority at the Horse Creek Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was presented with the William D. Hatfield Award in 1987 and retired as the plant’s Director in 2005. He was baptized by the Church of Christ, a former member of the Aiken Masonic Lodge #156 AFM, and was a member of the Williston Country Club for many years. He and his wife enjoyed golf, bridge, and Edisto Beach.
Survivors include his daughter, Karon (Danny) Garman of Aiken, SC; a son, Brian Bibb of Aiken; 3 grandchildren, Eowyn, Michael, Adriel Garman; and 2 sisters, Joyce Dorris of Kenton TN and Avis Sexton (Ed) of Kodak, TN. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Millard Fillmore “Phil” Bibb, III.
A memorial service will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 2 PM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral home with the Rev. Mark Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
