AIKEN, SC – RALPH DAYTON DeBORD, 69, beloved husband of Teresa Henderson DeBord, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Heartland Hospice, Augusta, GA. A native of Saltville, VA, Mr. DeBord was a son of the late Thomas H. and Annie Mae Call DeBord. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1972 and was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher, member of the Whittler’s, counting committee, and the senior adult council. He was retired from the College of Charleston as a HVAC engineer. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Resa (Brent) Wade, Aiken, a son, Lorne DeBord, Warrenville, three grandchildren, Kari Anne Wade, Brentni Wade and Jeffrey DeBord, a great-grandson, Kyler Wade, three sisters, Virginia Smith, Cayce, Gracie Walker, Raleigh, NC and Sue Lawrence, Roanoke, VA and a brother, Preston DeBord, Cleveland, TN. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Reverends Dr. Eddie Leopard, Mike Chandler and Mark Epps officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Buck, Maurice Peace, John Beckum, George Simmons, Carl Bryan, John Burckhalter, Owen Heyward and Marvin Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Millbrook Baptist Church Whittlers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millbrook Baptist Church’s Building Fund, 176 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
