Mr. Meredith Trotter Raney, Sr.

Mr. Meredith Trotter Raney, Sr. AIKEN, SC – MR. MEREDITH TROTTER RANEY, SR., 88, husband of Mary Stroud Raney, died Thursday, November 22, 2007, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in LaCrosse, VA, Mr. Raney was a son of the late Leigh Massenburg and Annie Seymour Raney. He lived in Aiken since 1952. Mr. Raney was an industrial engineer and worked for forty-nine years for E. I. DuPont and Westinghouse. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Nancy (David) Moseley, Martha (Jimmy) Gaddy, Laurie Spearman, and Mary Leigh (Joel) Sabean, a son, Meredith Trotter Raney, Jr., and three grandchildren, Jonathan (Lisa) Moseley, Leigh Anne (Andre) Balta, and Creighton Spearman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Julia Raney Wells, and a brother, Mack Raney. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 4:00 PM in Live Oak Cemetery, Walterboro, SC.
