AIKEN, SC-Jeanette Rowland Chapman, 76, beloved wife of Clarence Chapman for 56 years, died Thursday December 13, 2007
A native of Lincoln County, GA, Mrs. Chapman was the daughter of the late Claude and Janie Hall Rowland. She had lived in Aiken for 56 years, was a member of the Montmorenci First Baptist Church, and was famous for her 75 layer chocolate cake. She was the owner of Chapmans Grocery Store.
Survivors include her husband Clarence, her two daughters Wyman and Marilyn Inabinet and Timmy and Colleen Gantt both from Aiken, her grandchildren Capt Carl and Stayce Kleinholz from Vicenza, Italy, Jeremy and Anna Inabinet from Chicago, IL, Joshua Gantt from Clemson, SC, and Justin Gantt from Aiken, and two great-grandchildren Sarah and Noah Kleinholz, also five sisters Mozelle Smalley, Myrtice Poss, and Mary Jane Layton from Lincolnton, GA, Elizabeth Blake from Evans, GA, and Clara Bonnett from Aiken, her brother James Rowland from Lincolnton, GA. The family would like to give a special thanks to her nurses Ellie Whisnant and Donna Barton.
Funeral services will be Monday December 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Montmorenci First Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Smart and Rev. Gary Youell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Bodiford, Lester Taylor, Frank Sandifer, Lester Hall, Willie J. Bonnette, and Gene Bonnette.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 Sunday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, 29803 or at daughters house, 1639 Joyner Pond Rd, Aiken, SC.
