AIKEN, SC -- RICHARD ALAN IRWIN, 74, beloved husband of Joan McMinn Irwin, died Monday December 17, 2007 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. Irwin was born in Ridgway, PA, and lived in Edison , NJ for 38 years. He was a son of the late Samuel H. and Helen Fuhrer Irwin. Dick was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Masons for 50 years. He and his wife Joan retired to Aiken 10 years ago from New Jersey and are members of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He delivered groceries that the parishioners donated from the church to ACTS, made wooden crosses for table decorations for church dinners and crosses with flames as Methodist memorabilia. He was a member and Class Treasurer of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife Joan and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Rick) and Bonnie Irwin of Cape Coral, FL.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Reverend Dr. George K. Howle officiating. The family will receive friends in Ward Hall immediately following the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
