Marvin Burt Poston, Sr

Aiken, SC-Marvin Burt Poston, Sr., Attorney, 83, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at MCG in Augusta Ga. He was the beloved husband of Ellen Poulas Poston. Funeral services will be Saturday December 29, 11:00 at First Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Rev. Dr. Fred Andera, III officiating. When Mr. Poston first came to Aiken he checked 800 of the 1500 land titles when the government bought the land where SRS is now. He also helped develop Dunbarton Oaks. He was a member of the Aiken County Bar Association, SC Bar Association, charter member of Toast Masters Club, and past president Aiken Assembly. He was top Title Insurance Sales Agent for SC for numerous years. Mr. Poston was a member of Houndslake Country Club, a charter member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and the VFW. He served in the Army Air force during WWII. A native of Pamplico, SC, Mr. Poston lived in Aiken for 57 years, and was a self-employed attorney with Powell and Poston Attorney’s at Law. He is survived by his wife; Ellen Poulas Poston; two daughters, Leigh Corley, Columbia, SC, Susan (Kent) Redd, Aiken, SC.; one son, Dr. Marvin “Vin” Burt Poston, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Jason Corley, Whit Corley, Adrienne Patterson, Lauren Alexander, Beth Barden, Rachel Church, Kristin Redd, Justyn Redd, Tyler Redd; four great grandchildren, Aden Corley, Molly Scott Patterson, Gracie Ellen Patterson, Oliver Barden; three sisters, Zelma Spencer, Tampa, Fl, Judy Cox, Florence, SC, Barbara Covington, Florence, SC.; one brother, J. B. Poston, Louisville, Ky. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery with Military Honors.
