NEW ELLENTON, SC- On Friday, October 26, 2012, Jack Royce Cofer gave up this life on earth to be with his savior after 89 years.
Mr. Cofer was born on Sept. 7, 1923 to the late James Madison Cofer & Grace McLane Cofer in the Bethcar Community of Aiken County, South Carolina, having made New Ellenton his home for the last 52 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Reese Cofer ; a son, Reginald Duane Cofer (Patricia) of New Ellenton; a grandson, Jacob Cofer (Ryan); his granddaughters, Jasmine, Kendall, Madison Cofer & Elizabeth Rice; great-grandaughters, Lydia Adele & great-grandsons, Donavon and Keegan Cofer and Michael and Royce Rice; a sister Margaret C. Kirkland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cofer was predeceased by his son, David Royce Cofer; his sister, Glenn Eve Gunter (James); his brothers, James (Mac) Cofer, John A. (Tony) Cofer and Richard Allen (Sony) Cofer and a grandson, Joshua Duane Cofer and a brother in law, Harold Kirkland.
Mr. Cofer served his country in the US Army in the 269 Field Artillery from Spring 1943-1945 and saw action in France and Germany. He traveled through Scotland, England, Belgium and Holland.
Mr. Cofer was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in New Ellenton where he served on the deacon board, as a Sunday School teacher and chairman of the ushers. He was employed by E.I. du Pont at Savannah River Site for 31 years. He has been in poor health for four years and the family wishes to thank the many nurses who have cared for him through his sickness & also P.C.M.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM on Monday, October 29, 2012 in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Richard Nichols & Daniel Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Bethcar Baptist Church Cemetery, Wagener, SC.
Pallbearers will be Mark Pope, Steve Reese, Jim Widener, Rex Nordeen, Larry Ricks and Carl Bledsoe. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Sunday School class and nurses of P.C.M.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
