AIKEN, SC- RALPH FURMAN WALDROP, beloved husband of Doris Faye McNure Waldrop passed away at 94 on Monday, November 12, 2012. Mr. Waldrop was born in Franklin, North Carolina on April 13, 1918, having made Aiken his home since 1951. He was a veteran and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He retired from EI DuPont SRP after 30 years of service in the Health Physics department. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Franklin, NC. Work was a way of life and he took great pride in his farm, his cattle, and hay he raised. His grandchildren always enjoyed him leading them around on his horses. He had a great passion for his farm, beauty of nature, and wildlife. He was a lifetime member of the Black Angus Association and a member of the New Ellenton Riding Club. He enjoyed attending the DuPont retirement dinners with his son-in-law Curt. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. The family wants to especially thank all the personal care workers who helped take care of him for 4 years. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Faye Waldrop; 2 daughters, Sandra (Carl) Robinson and Susan (Curt) Giddings of Aiken, SC; a step- daughter, Cathie Sweat (Joseph) Dean of Bryson City, NC; 3 grandchildren, Carla (David) Beatty, Dana Robinson, and Amanda (Ryan) Mitchell; 3 great- grandchildren, Estephen Cabezas, Keaton Mitchell, and Peyton Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Parks Waldroop and Helen Irene Henderson Waldroop, his first wife Dana Keener Waldrop, two sisters, Marie Stiles and Eva Ann Waldrop, and 2 brothers, Fritz Waldrop and Joe Waldrop. A graveside service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, 994 Hendersonville Hwy. Pisgah Forest, NC 28768 with The Reverend Stephen D. Phillips officiating. There will be a private family viewing prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Union United Methodist Church, 3768 Georgia Hwy. Franklin, NC 28763.
