Hilton Pruett

NEW ELLENTON, SC - HILTON PRUETT, 84, beloved husband of Joy Jewell Pruett, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Pruett was born in Eastman, GA on September 05, 1928 and was a son of the late George Eddie Pruett and Eunice Thompson Pruett. He grew up in Macon, GA and served in the Army during the Korean War. Hilton had been a resident of Aiken County since 1953 and was a retired maintenance foreman for DuPont at the Savannah River Site. He was a founding member of South Aiken Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed camping and photography, and was proud to have built his own home. He was a dedicated member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Joy Jewell Pruett; two daughters, Debbie Pearson (Kent) and Janice Henshaw of Aiken, SC; a son Adam Pruett (Susan) of New Ellenton; 9 grandchildren, Leslie Walters (Kyle), Kyle Pearson (Deborah), Lee Henshaw, Audrey Henshaw, Maggie Henshaw, Christian Henshaw, Cagney Pruett, Samantha Pruett, and Raylene Pruett; 3 great- grandchildren, Eric Walters, Collin Walters, and Daniel Pearson; and a brother, Wayne Pruett (Sherrie) of Greenwood, SC. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday in the Shellhoue- Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev's Richard Nichols and Daniel Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kyle Pearson, Kyle Walters, Kent Pearson, Eric Walters, Christian Henshaw, and Ernie Girolamo. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday School Class of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church.
