AIKEN, SC – Albert Irving Grabb, 86, beloved husband of the late Jean Rauch, died after a brief illness on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Mr. Grabb was born May 11, 1926 in Ontario, NY, and had made Aiken his home since 1956. He was the son of Joseph Francis Grabb and Ivy Mae Alborn Grabb. A veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, Mr. Grabb retired from the Savannah River Plant in 1986. Mr. Grabb was a former deacon and long-time active member of First Presbyterian Church in Aiken. He was also a member of the Aiken Golf Club and the Carolina Squares, and he thoroughly enjoyed family activities which included picnics, camping, traveling, and playing games. Survivors include three children—Margaret Jean “Peggy” Grant (Steve) of Cincinnati, OH; William Irving “Bill” Grabb (Nancy) of Mooresville, NC; and Henry Herbert Grabb (Karen Dannessa) of Downingtown, PA; 5 grandchildren—Cynthia Jean Patterson (Mark) of Huntsville, AL; Daniel Irving Grabb of Jacksonville, FL; Benjamin Peter Grant of Dublin, Ireland; Zachary Stephen Grant of Philadelphia, PA; and Edwin Arthur Grant (Lindsey) of Columbus, OH; and two great grandchildren—Hannah Zoe and Bailey Elise Patterson of Huntsville. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Aiken, Rev. Dr. John R. Wall officiating, with Military honors and visitation in the fellowship hall following the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Law Sunday School class, the Mended Hearts, and the Carolina Squares. Interment in the church columbarium will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church 224 Barnwell Ave. NW Aiken, SC 29801 and to The Mended Hearts, National Office 8150 N.
