AIKEN, SC- KENNETH DUANE KNAPP, 77, beloved husband of Betty J. Knapp, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. A native of Traverse City, MI, Mr. Knapp was a son of the late Paul and Beatrice Priest Knapp. He was a star basketball player in high school and served as Governor of the senior class. He was an avid golfer during high school and his later days. Mr. Knapp proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and graduated with a B.S. in business from the University of Michigan, he loved working with children and taught Sunday School for junior high school and high school students in Michigan. He retired from a career in pharmaceutical sales. He also worked part time as a real estate salesman and an insurance salesman. Mr. Knapp moved to Aiken in 1981 and worked as a substitute teacher at Aiken High and Middle Schools. He often incorporated his sense of humor while teaching. He was a member at Aiken First Presbyterian Church. He was a devoted husband and loving father, loved sports and was an avid University of Michigan fan. Survivors, in addition to his wife Betty, include a daughter, Julie Ann (Steve) Boan, Aiken; two sons, Paul Alan (Maria) Knapp, Visalia, CA and David Duane (Toni) Knapp, Oceanside, CA; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
