AIKEN - Mr. Robert Carson "Bobby" Long, Jr., 81, departed this life on Earth December 14, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
He is survived by his precious Nan, wife of 19 years. He was the son of the late Robert C., Sr. and Catherine Lillian Antley Long.
Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Jo (Michael) Sandifer, Sharon (Rev. Edward) Stilz, Robin Broach, Melody (Allen) Lott; one step daughter, Gayle (David) Gibson; one step son Danny (Trudy) Cheek; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Marilyn (Jack) Smith; two brothers, Reverend Julian (Elizabeth) Long, Sr., John David (Norma) Long, Sr.
Bobby was preceded in death by the late Shirley Davis, mother of his four daughters; two brothers and two sisters in law, Frank and Ann Long, Edward and Barbara Long.
He graduated from Bamberg High School, Class of 1949, attended The Citadel, and graduated from USC with a degree in Accounting. Bobby was retired from E.I. DuPont and Westinghouse. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and member of the Aiken Radio Control Society. As a young boy, Bobby built and flew his model planes in yonder sky. He was also a longtime member of Millbrook Baptist Church and the Senior Men's Class taught by Bill Whalen.
He loved his life at Mallard Lake with his loving wife, neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Dr. Chris Masters and the Reverend Julian Long officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
