Alma Huber Whittemore

AIKEN, SC- Mrs. Alma Huber Whittemore, 89, of Chesterfield St., Aiken, SC passed away December 24, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Whittemore was born in the Republic of El Salvador, having made Aiken her home for the past three years. Before moving to Aiken, she was a long time resident of Greenwich, Connecticut & Canton, Ohio. She was a graduate of Cornell University. In Canton, Ohio she was a member of The College Club and The Historical Society of Early American Decoration where she specialized and was known for her stenciled tin, gold leaf decoration and Victorian painting. She retired from The Timpkin Company. Mrs. Whittemore was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand Huber and Isabel De Melendez Huber; her husband, John Francis Whittemore and a brother, Mike Huber. She is survived by a son, John Francis "Jack" Whittemore, III and his partner, Rebecca Totty, of Aiken, SC and a granddaughter, Alexandra Elizabeth Whittemore of Birmingham, AL. Private graveside services will be conducted in Yankton, South Dakota.
