AIKEN - James E. Hynes, 69, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. A loving husband for 33 years, he is survived by his wife, Laura J. Hynes of Aiken. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Hynes, Sr., his mother Lillian Hynes, and his former wife, Kay Hynes Carpenter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Stacy, Kevin and Daniel Hynes, all of Aiken, S.C. He is also survived by his stepchildren Roger (Donna) Jay, Georgetown, T.X.; Dennis Jay of Augusta, G.A.; and stepdaughters Marlene (Lewis) Parker of Graniteville, S.C.; Laurie Balbag of New Ellenton, S.C. He is also survived by his brother Danny (Jean) Clifford, New Jersey. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jim, as he was commonly called, was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved his family, fishing, cooking, yard work and painting the house. Originally born in Bronx, N.Y. Jim retired from the Graniteville Company/Avondale as a painter for 35 years. Jim will be greatly missed by everyone who had the wonderful opportunity to know him.
A service in honor of Jim will be held at Warrenville Church of God, located at 130 Simonds Street, Warrenville, SC 29851, on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Skelton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Warrenville Church of God.
