AIKEN - Mary Hull Wiswell, 94, a 40 year Aiken resident, died peacefully after a brief illness on January 13th in Aiken, SC.
Born September 21, 1918 in Port Angeles, WA, She spent her childhood in Seattle, WA. She attended the University of Washington and moved to Los Angeles to attend acting school. While in Los Angeles she was active as a professional advertising model and actress. She appeared in many plays and starred in the 1941 feature film ‘Swamp Woman’ with Jack LaRue.
She then moved to New York City and continued her advertising modeling and acting career. The appeared in many plays and was active in the national touring companies of these musicals.
She married Andrew Muller Wiswell Sr. in 1947 at The Little Church Around The Corner in New York City. She moved to Tuckahoe, NY and then resided for 25 years in Bronxville, NY where she was active in the Cub Scouts and The Reformed Church of Bronxville where she was a member for 60 years. She was an active tennis and golf player.
She moved to Aiken, SC in 1973 where is founded Mary Wiswell GRI Properties Ltd. She was an active real estate broker until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 53 years: Andrew Muller Wiswell Sr., her father: Jay T. Hull, her mother Emily S Hull, her brother Richard T Hull and her sister Adele Hull Larson.
She is survived by her children, Andrew Muller Wiswell Jr. of San Anselmo, CA, Harry Steves Wiswell of Aiken, SC and Hank Fenderson Wiswell of Spokane, WA, and her grandson, Derek Winters Wiswell of Palo Alto, CA.
A memorial service is pending for The Reformed Church in Bronxville, NY.
