ATLANTA, GA - MRS. DESSIE STAPLETON RABORN, 90, formerly of Aiken, SC, died Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Raborn was born in Emanuel County, GA, a daughter of the late Jodie and Lillian Rollins Stapleton. She was self-employed as a Cosmetologist for over 45 years. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church, the American Legion, Spares and Pairs, and the Widow Widowers Club. She enjoyed reading, was a fabulous cook, loved shopping with her friends, gardening and always had animals in her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Myra Y. Raborn and her partner, Lorena Hendry, Lilburn, GA, Tammi R. (John W. Hale) Collett, Decatur, GA; grandchild, Cydni Collett; great grandchild, Caroline Collett; nieces, Barbara Schimmel, Green Bay, WI, Terri Noe, West DePere, WI, Dollie, Carol and Lillie; nephew Ted (Judy) Morton, Leesville, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore S. Raborn, a grandchild, Caroline Scott Collett.
The family would like to thank the caregivers Lorraine, Hawa, Mulu and staff at AG Rhodes and Crossroads Hospice, also special thanks to Michelle, who took care of her and her live in companion, John Storozuk, who preceded her in death.
