AIKEN, SC - CAROL SMATHERS CHEEK BODIE, 73, beloved wife of Thomas Marshall Bodie, Jr., died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Bodie was a daughter of the late Frank Edward and Ethel George Smathers. She had lived in Aiken most of her life and was the owner and operator of The Silver Thimble. She was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Carol is survived by her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Cindy Bergaus and Deborah Cheek Chambers, both of Aiken; two step-daughters, Linda Allen (Perry), Aiken and Teresa Jordan, Edgefield; three grandchildren, Saunda Yellowbird, Alisia Cheek and Eric Chambers; four great-grandchildren, Isaak Smith, Alana Carol Yellowbird, Nickolette Williams and Pumina Yellowbird; two sisters, Betty Jo McWilliams, Conyers, GA and Linda G. Ryan, New Port Beach, CA and a brother, Jimmy Smathers, Aiken.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The Revs. Jim Fairchild and Todd Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
