AIKEN, SC - LOIS TAYLOR PHILLIPS, 91, widow of Ralph Lee Phillips, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at her residence.
A native of Aiken, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late Ben O. and Cora Lee Chapman Taylor. She lived most of her life in Aiken, except for 12 years she and her husband spent in Salisbury, MD. Lois was retired from the Aiken County Auditor's Office. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she was active, serving on various committees during the years. She was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and was a former Sunday School and GA's teacher.
Mrs. Phillips was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughter, Virginia Nelson (Zane); two grandchildren, Lee Nelson and Jeremy Nelson, all of Aiken; three great-grandchildren, Baileigh and Brad Nelson and Isabella Mancusi and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Blondell T. Hunt and two brothers, J. B. Taylor and Edgar O. "Boot" Taylor.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Ben W. Taylor, Robert Powell, Jimmy Hunt, James R. Hunt, Jr., Ernie Girolamo, Ben O. Taylor, Andrew Girolamo and Chris Lebow. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
