Inoise Willis McKeown

October 26, 1921 — February 27, 2008

AIKEN – Mrs. Inoise “Penny” Kneece Willis McKeown, 86, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at St. John United Methodist Church, Graniteville. Pastor Larry Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. McKeown was born in Aiken County, a daughter of the late Julian Pace and Lucie Gunter Kneece. Penny was a life long resident of Aiken County. She graduated from Winthrop College and received her Masters in Education from the University of South Carolina. She was a teacher in the Aiken County School System for 35 years. She was a volunteer for Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center and a member of St. John Methodist Church in Graniteville where she was active in the choir and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a pianist for the church service at Trinity Lutheran Home until her passing. She was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Daniel Carroll (“Tincy”) Willis, and Calvin Miller McKeown, and a daughter Jane Willis Clarke. Survivors include four daughters, Millie Leaphart, Greenville, SC, Carol Smith, Goose Creek, SC, Becky Patch, Asheville, NC, Catherine Love, Weaverville, NC; two sons, Sam McKeown, Chester, SC, Dan Willis, Aiken, SC; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Monroe Kneece, Johnston, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made St. John United Methodist Church, 18 Gregg St., Graniteville, SC 29829, or to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803.
