AIKEN SC – George Oliver True, Jr.”Bud”, 80, died, Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
Mr. True was born in Chicago, IL., a son of the late George Oliver and Katherine Andrews True. Mr. True served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) and attended graduate school at the University of Michigan. Bud was a 32nd degree Mason of the Toledo Masonic Consistory; a Zenobia Shriner in Toledo, OH; a member of the Aiken Sr. Men’s club; Port Clinton Yacht Club, Delta Chi fraternity, served on the board of the Ida Rupp Public Library and a charter member of the Firelands Presbyterian Church. He spent most of his working career as a Sr. System Analyst for General Motors. Mr. True moved to Aiken in 2006 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Jane True; a daughter, Beth (Greg) Hull, Findlay, OH; two sons, George Oliver (Deb) True, III, West Bloomfield, MI, Tim (Mary Lou) True, Tualatin, OR; five grandchildren, Matthew Hull, Lauren Hull, George Oliver True, IV, Marissa True, Conner True; two great-grandchildren, Cole Hull and Felicity Hull; and a sister, Joanne Wood of Pasadena, FL.
Bud enjoyed history, computers, reading, boating and especially being around his dear friends. However, Bud’s favorite thing in life was being devoted to his loving wife, Pat.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. John Wall and the Rev. Holley Shoaf-O’Kula officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
