AIKEN – Betty Hobbs Nesbit, 88, widow of J. Samuel Nesbit, Jr., died Sunday, March 10, 2013.
Born in Mooresville, NC, Mrs. Nesbit is the daughter of the late William Logan and Edith Mayhew Hobbs. After moving to Aiken in 1955, Mrs. Nesbit served as a homemaker for her family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Nesbit was also a member of the Aiken County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Pine Needles Garden Club and a retiree from Aiken Technical College where she worked as an administrative assistant. She was the most precious mother in the world, a true gift from God who loved the Lord and is now finally home with Jesus.
She is survived by a daughter; Julie N. (Daniel) Simpson, Martinez, GA, a son; Samuel “Bo” Nesbit, Elgin, SC, four grandchildren; Logan B. Nesbit, Breydon T. Nesbit, Blake T. Nesbit, Daniel R. Simpson, a sister; Rebecca H. (Richard) Bell, Burlington, NC and her grand dogs; Zoe and Cinnamon.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Hobbs, Mary Beth Hobbs, William L. Hobbs, Jr., Miriam H. Cook and Carey H. Lukens and a daughter-in-law; Tracy B. Nesbit.
Funeral services will be private.
