Louis Marion Schumpert

AIKEN, SC- LOUIS MARION "SUG" SCHUMPERT, SR, 89, of Hatchaway Bridge Road, died peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his residence surrounded by family. A native of Batesburg, South Carolina, Mr. Schumpert was one of thirteen children born to the late Jesse and Josie Bedenbaugh Schumpert. He made Aiken his home in 1973 and proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. Until his retirement, Mr. Schumpert was the owner and operator of S&S Building Supply in New Ellenton, SC. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Schumpert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Sanders Thacker Schumpert; four daughters, Robin (Frank) Lee, Isle of Palms, SC, Vicki (Jeff) Wooten, West Columbia, SC, Dottie (Mike) Robidoux, Lexington, SC and Laurie Thacker, Aiken, SC; five sons, Louis M. Schumpert, Irmo, SC, Tom (Elaine) Schumpert, Athens, TN, Coke (Lynda) Thacker, Aiken, SC; David Thacker, Modoc, SC and Jimmy Thacker, Aiken, SC; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Jean Smith, Williston, SC and a brother, George Ray Schumpert, Blackville, SC. A memorial service will be held 4 o'clock Wednesday in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Tri-County Hospice or the charity of your choice.
