John Dan Shaver

AIKEN, SC - JOHN "DAN" SHAVER, 95, died in Aiken, South Carolina on March 18, 2013. Born in Chicago, IL on November 27, 1917, he was the son of the late John and Flora Shaver; the husband of the late Mildred M. Shaver and father of the late John Daniel Shaver, Jr. Dan was a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a Captain in the Air Force during World War II and had a 34 year career in sales and service with the IBM Corporation attaining the level of Division Vice President. After retirement, Dan focused on giving back to the community, his devoted wife Mil, and playing golf. While living in Lake Wyle, SC, he was a driving force in the development of the River Hills Community Church. a food pantry to serve the Clover, SC community and a local volunteer ambulance service. After Dan and Mil moved to Tarpon Springs, FL, he became the President of the Property Owners Association for the Tarpon Cove community; a position which he held for almost 10 years. He was an avid golfer who was able to "shoot his age" into his 90's. Dan Shaver was the first person in his family to receive a college degree. He was a man who had big ideas and possessed the determination and leadership skills to bring many of his ideas to reality. He will be missed by many people whose lives he touched. Dan is survived by his son Keith A. Shaver and his wife Beverly of Aiken, SC; grandchildren Keith T. Shaver and his wife Molly of Chesterfield, MO, Kristin (Shaver) Murphy and husband Charlie of Tampa, FL, Tracy (Shaver) Brigham and husband Jeff of Huntersville, NC, John Daniel Shaver and wife Joanne of Charlotte, NC; daughter in law, Stacey L. Shaver of Scottsdale AZ, along with 9 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
