AIKEN – Mrs. Minerva Johnson Lefler, 90, died Thursday, March 13, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Johns United Methodist Church. Reverend Dr. George K. Howle will officiate. Mrs. Lefler will be laid to rest next to her husband of 53 years in a private ceremony at Sunset Memory Gardens The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.
Mrs. Lefler was born in Lakewood, NJ, a daughter of the late Howard Charles and Ledonna Williams Johnson. She and her husband, Fred Hilary Lefler, moved to Aiken in 1959. She was a nurse, a homemaker, a volunteer for ACTS and the Aiken Area Council on Aging, and was a Brownie Scout leader. As a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the St. Johns Quilters.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Beck) Schroder, Camden, SC, Nancy (Ken) Perrine, Aiken; five grandchildren, Dawn S. Hill, Tracy S. Carlton, Lori S. Arledge, Danny Perrine, Sally Perrine League; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Verna Sprinkle, Lakewood, NJ; a brother, Orville Johnson, Palm Beach, FL.
In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., Aiken, SC 29801.
