NEW ELLENTON, SC - SAMUEL LEE "SAMMY" JOHNSON, 55, beloved husband of 32 years to Daphne Key Johnson, went home to meet his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Born in Jacksonville, FL, Sammy was a son of Beverly Mayer Johnson and the late William Carl Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a great man of God, who he proudly served. Sammy lived most of his life in New Ellenton where he owned and operated Consolidated Mechanical. He was a member of Hollow Creek Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of Deacons. A great husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, he was an inspiration to all who met him. He will be remembered by his wonderful personality and cheerful smile. Survivors, in addition to his wife Daphne, include two sons, Samuel Carl (Erica)Johnson and Richard Lee (Toni) Johnson; two grandsons, Ashton Parker Johnson and Lawton Tanner Johnson all of Aiken; mother, Beverly M. Johnson, New Ellenton, SC; sisters, Phyllis Flynn, New Ellenton, SC, Gail Ramsey Crook (Harold), North Augusta, SC, Angie Prout (Steve), Fountain Inn, SC, Terry Kendrick (Jimmy), Aiken, SC, Amy Rogers (Jim), Knotts Island, NC; and brother, David Jonsen Virginia Beach, VA and beloved extended family member, John Ramsey. In addition to his father, Sammy was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Haynes. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Hollow Creek Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM. The Revs Dr. Darrell Thompson and Dr. David Richardson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buster Key, Jimmy Flynn, Kenny Franklin, Michael Franklin, Phillip Ramsey and T. J. Kendrick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Key, Buck Key, Gary Miller, Stacey Todd, Cliff Bridges, Mark Edwards, John Ramsey, Buddy Sutton, Claude Melton, Robert Franklin and Mark Rowe.
