James Warren Parrish

October 21, 1922 — March 15, 2008

AIKEN – Mr. James Warren Parrish, 85, died Saturday, March 15, 2008. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 at Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Dr. Eddie Leopard will officiate. After Graduation from H.S. and WWII came into being, his service time was spent at Norfolk, VA with the U.S. Navy Air Patrol. After the war ended he returned to Madison, TN and became employed with Dupont at Old Hickory, TN in the accounting department. He also attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He was transferred to Aiken in 1952 to work for Dupont at the Savannah River Plant (SRP) as an accountant and remained there until retirement. Mr. Parrish was born in Kentucky, and moved to Madison, TN at the age of 13. He was the son of the late Forest and Katie Hines Parrish. He was a longtime member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he served in various positions including the Whittler’s Club, which was among his pleasures. He was also a charter member of Houndslake Country Club, Men’s Golf Association, and Aiken Chapter of Diabetes Association. Survivors include his loving wife Blanch Parrish; one daughter, Phyllis (Alton) Bryers, Webster, N.C.; one son, Herman (Linda) Hall, Jr., Batesburg, SC; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Geneva (James) Grisham; Madison, TN.; one brother, Franklin Parrish, Madison, TN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Aiken Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Millbrook Baptist Church Missions Program, 176 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, SC, 29803.
