Geneva Mixon Grandy

AIKEN, SC – GENEVA MIXON GRANDY, 76, widow of Rodney Leon Grandy, Jr., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at her residence. A native of Waynesboro, GA, Mrs. Grandy was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Irene Blackburn Mixon. She had retired with her husband to Aiken for the last 16 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church, Woodside Country Club and contributed to numerous charity organizations and educational institutions. Survivors include two sons, J. Steven (Doris) Johnson, Aiken and Robert A. (Penny) Johnson, Aiken, a step-daughter, Karen E. (Richard) Lizarraga, Arlington, TX, three step-sons, Rodney L. (Linda) Grandy III, Greenville, SC, Matthew L. (Megan) Grandy, Greenville, SC and Byron F. (Melinda) Grandy, Denver, CO, twelve grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson (Scott) Butts, Caitlin Johnson, Kearston Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Logan Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Morgan Grandy, Ryan Grandy, Rodney Grandy IV, Katherine Grandy, Amanda Lizarraga and Bryce Lizarraga and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Butts and Haley Butts. The funeral service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Eddie Leopard officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
