AIKEN – Mr. David Lyle Jhant, 83, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Taylor Wells and Louie Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Van Willing, Lee Willing, Fred Willing, David Lee Willing, Brent Bennett and Chuck Jordan. Mr. Jhant was born in Rock Hill, SC, a son of the late John Paul and Mary Elizabeth Jhant, Sr. He served in the Army and Air Force during the Korean War, and retired from the US Postal Service. He was a past Master of Aiken Masonic Lodge 156, and a past member of the York Rite Bodies. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and in the past very active in church league softball as well as little league football. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife, Alice Willing Jhant; a daughter, Lisa (Tim) Derrick, Aiken; son, Philip (Julianne) Jhant, North Augusta; grandchildren, Jonathan Derrick, Justin (Amber) Derrick, Allie Jhant, Geddings Jhant; great grandson, David Derrick; special niece, Harriet Wood; brother, Max Jhant, Lancaster, SC. Memorials may be directed to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3925 Shiloh Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29801, or the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home P.O. Box 1178 Greenwood, SC 29648.
