AIKEN – Mrs. Weda Cheyney Gregorieff, 94, died May 1, 2013.
A gathering of friends will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date in West Chester, PA.
Mrs. Gregorieff was born in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Louise Cook Cheyney. She had been a resident of Aiken since 1974.
Weda believed strongly in the role of military spouses. She followed her beloved husband, Igor, around the world in their service to their country. She loved her animals, art, poetry, gardening and genealogy. Her extensive charity work continued throughout her time in Aiken. She saw the world through an artist’s eye, seeing beauty and color everywhere. She was an educated world traveler and her stories entertained all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Survivors include her brother, Trent Cheyney, San Antonio, TX, and numerous other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Igor A. Gregorieff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Indian Relief Council, PO Box 6200 Rapid City, SD 57709, or the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
