Virginia Erikson

Mrs. Virginia E. Erikson, 89, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, S.C. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, J. Harold Erikson Jr.; her son, Robert B. Erikson, and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Erikson; her daughter, Pamela J. Light, and son-in-law, Richard N. Light; and grandchildren, Christopher and Heather Erikson and Thomas and Kristen Light. Mrs. Erikson was born in Elmira, N.Y., the daughter of the late Gustav and Frederica Leupelt. She was a resident of Smoke Rise, Kinnelon, N.J., for 28 years and after her husband's retirement moved to Imperial Golf Club and Estates, Naples, Fla., where they resided for 20 years before moving to Merrill Gardens in Naples, Fla., for the last three years. She was very active in the communities in which she lived, serving on many boards. She enjoyed singing and was an active member in the choir of the Community Church of Smoke Rise, N.J., for many years and most recently the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, Naples, Fla., where she also enjoyed being an active member of their choir. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, 1225 Piper Blvd., Naples, FL 34110-1252 (239-597-1720). Private funeral services will be held in Elmira, N.Y., at Olthof Funeral Home, date to be determined, and she will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, N.Y.
