Albert Max Goggans

NEW ELLENTON, SC- ALBERT MAX GOGGANS, 83, of New Ellenton, SC, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. A native of Fyffe, Alabama, Mr. Goggans was a son of the late Rev. Harvey Linfield Goggans and Maude Bell Rains Goggans. Mr. Goggans had made New Ellenton his home since 1955. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from E. I. duPont as an area Health Physics supervisor, and was an advisor for the Aiken County School Board for 16 years. Mr. Goggans was a faithful and active member of Corinth Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons, a member of the finance committee and as a Sunday School teacher. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 60 years, Bonnie Marie McElmoyl Goggans; two daughters, Karen G. (Mel) Youngblood, New Ellenton, SC and Kimberly G. (Bruce) Walls, Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons. Steven W. (Barbara O.) Goggans, Pawleys Island, SC and Bryan Max Goggans, Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Angela Marie (Dean) Whetstone, Emily Morgan Price, William Graham Max Goggans, Sara Elizabeth Youngblood, Andrew Barry Price, Stevie Claire Goggans, Victoria Katherine Youngblood and Carson Schuyler Walls; one great-grandchild, Layla Marie Whetstone; and a brother, Ernest Ray Goggans, Anniston, AL. The family will receive friends this Sunday from 4-6 PM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 10, 2013 in Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev.'s Robbie Vance and Mike Bell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chick Key, Steve Harris, Harold Key, Graham Goggans, Andrew Price and Carson Walls.
