Carey Will Smith Herron

AIKEN - Mrs. Carey Will Smith Herron, 74, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Brancie Stephens and the Mr. Carey Ready officiating. Entombment will follow in the Southlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Rodney Ready, Jr., Todd Ready, Carey Ready, Bud Ready, Lane Ready and Cody Ready. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christ Messenger Sunday School Class. Mrs. Herron was a lifelong resident of Aiken, a daughter of the late D. Maurice and Ruthy Mae Worthington Smith. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved reading, especially her Bible and the newspaper. She loved her family and the time she spent with them. She loved music and playing the accordion. She is survived by her loving husband, Owen Fredrick Herron; four sons, Rodney (Lucy) Ready, Jr., Todd Ready, Carey Ready, Bud Ready, all of Aiken; four grandchildren, Tessa Ready, Carey Michelle Ready, Lane Ready, Cody Ready; step children, Marie (Dink) Norsworthy, Aiken, Janice (the Late Freddie) Herron, Aiken, Janice (Jimmy) Smathers, Aiken, Mark (Rhonda) Herron, Aiken, Brenda Padgett, Ward, SC, Debbie Hubbs, Trenton; 18 step grandchildren; 30 step great grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; a brother, the Reverend D. Maurice (Faye) Smith, Jr., Aiken; sister, Ruthy Mae (Bill) Stevens, Tulsa, OK. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Nell Reeves and Vonceil Head.
