AIKEN, SC - COURTNEY ELIZABETH McCALL, 46, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA to join her beloved dog Sadie Lou who preceeded her in death earlier this year.
Born in Augusta, GA, Courtney was a daughter of William F. and Cynthia Evans McCall. She grew up in Aiken and graduated from South Aiken High School in 1985.Courtney attended the College of Charleston and USC-Aiken, receiving her undergraduate degree in English with a minor in Creative Writing at USC in Columbia, South Carolina. She received her Master's in Community Counseling from Augusta College. She had lived in Asheville, NC for the last ten years and worked as Substance Abuse Program Administrator for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety at Black Mountain Substance Abuse & Treatment Center for Women.
Survivors include her parents, Bill and Cynthia McCall; two sisters, Stephanie McCall Halling and Catherine McCall Baker (Cody); nieces Alexis Lepard and Addison Baker and nephews Matthew Halling and Ethan Baker who adored their Aunt Courtney and whom she loved with all her heart; aunt, Carole Smith; uncle, John McCall (Camille), of Aiken; and four cousins, Lisa Fox, Leigh Ann Williams, Marsh and Perry McCall and her beloved dog, Skipper Dean.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be private.
A memorial gathering will be held in Asheville, NC at a later date.
Courtney's family would like to thank the physicians and staff in the Emergency Department and ICU at University Hospital for their dedicated attention while she was in their care.
Memorial contributions may be directed to an animal charity of choice.
