AIKEN, SC - LEONARD EDWARD MYERS, 89 of Aiken, entered into rest at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Regency Hospice, Thursday, July 25, 2013. Born in Lutesville, MO, Mr. Myers was a son of the late Joseph Floyd and Gladys Sunshine Jones Myers. He was married 71 years to his beloved wife Bettie Lou Reece Myers, who died November 22, 2012. Mr. Myers spent most of his life in the St. Louis area. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from February 26. 1943 to December 5, 1945. Leonard was employed by the St. Louis San Francisco Railway Co. as a Special Agent from June 6, 1946 until retirement December 31, 1981. He was Mayor of the City of Newburg, MO from 1974 to 1975. Leonard was a former member of Rolla, MO Masonic Lodge F& AM and Past Master of Equality Masonic Lodge, former Deputy District Grand Master of the Missouri Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Scottish Rite in Joplin, MO for over 50 years, a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple and the American Legion Post #172 in Columbia, SC. He was a man of many hats, enjoying life, was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include four children, Sandra Krumm (Garnett), Ware, MO, Gary Lee Myers (Susan), Goodyear, AZ, Donna L. Tarasawa, Aiken, SC Leonard G. Myers (Debi), Doolittle, MO; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a brother, Kenneth Williams (Kathy), Albuquerque, NM. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 3 to 5 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Aiken's First Baptist Church with The Revs. M. Cathy Cole and Amy R. Stertz officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
