Martha E. Lea, of Aiken South Carolina, went to rest on July 28, 2013 at her home in Woodside Plantation. Mrs. Lea was the daughter of the late Emory James Wells and Alice Martha Wells, wife of the late William Thomas Lea, Jr., and mother of the late Barbara Ann Lea Moore. She was the last survivor of her five siblings; Francis Wells Duchac, Warren James Wells, Elizabeth Wells Sushok and Elton Wells.
Mrs. Lea was a New Jersey native, a happy homemaker and led a very active life. She loved to swim in Ocean City, NJ when the family all got together. Mrs. Lea also did charity work for the various communities she lived in. She was a founder of the Colesville Methodist Church as well as a member of three different golf teams – The Argyle Country Club, The Radley Run Country Club, where she hit a hole in one, 122 yards and The Dolphin Head Golf Club in Hilton Head. She and her husband moved to Aiken in 1997 and here is where they both lived until each departed from this world.
Mrs. Lea is survived by her only son, William Thomas Lea III (Sharon), four grandchildren; Paige Bickar (Ruben), James Lansinger (Carroline), Thomas Lea (Michelle) and Brian Lea. She is also survived by three great grandchildren and thirteen nieces and nephews.
