AIKEN, SC – ANN STORY FOX SMITH, 47, died at her home on April 25, 2008. She was a native of Atlanta, GA and had made Aiken her home since 1988. She was a daughter of the late Carl Louis Fox, Jr. and Marcia Mansfield Fox.
Ann graduated from Presbyterian College and received her Masters degree from Converse College. She devoted her career to education, working for the last eighteen years at Kennedy Middle School, where she taught special needs children and was a teacher in the deaf education program. She was active in the Aiken Debutante Society and the Cotillion Club.
Survivors include three children, a daughter, Lauren Mansfield Smith of Columbia, SC, two sons, Wilson Manning Smith, III of Clemson, SC and Larson Douglass Smith of Aiken; her husband, Wilson Manning Smith, Jr., of Aiken; a brother, John Douglass Fox and his wife Marty of Denver, CO, a sister, Helen Fox Morgan and her husband Russ of Augusta, GA; three aunts, Virginia Mansfield McManus, Anna K. Whitacre Mansfield and Willyne Powell Mansfield and an uncle, William A. McManus, all of Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Gary Powell officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 28, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
