AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Jean Smith Taylor, 82, died at her residence in Aiken on May 1, 2008.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Reform, AL to the late James William and Ella Mae Smith. She was a retired registered nurse with the Baptist Medical Centers in Birmingham, AL. She moved to Aiken in 1997 and enjoyed life at Kalmia Landing with wonderful new friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, James Perry Taylor, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Taylor and Beth (Dominick) Aloia, both of Aiken; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Smoak, Alabaster, AL, Jessica (Jeremy) Brumfield, Aiken, Laura (Cale) Johnson, Columbia, SC; great grandchildren, Kyle Smoak, Ava Smoak and Owen Brumfield; a sister, Ruth Hayden, Tuscaloosa, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Ave., Aiken, SC. Graveside services will be held in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, AL on Monday, May 5 at 1:00 PM. Reverend Dr. Rodney K. Powell will officiate.
