AIKEN, SC - CARL CECIL GREENE, 84, died on Tuesday the 3rd of September 2013 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA.
Born in Webster, FL on the 21st of April 1929, Mr. Greene was a son of the late James Madison and Frances Sparkman Greene. He was a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. Carl had lived in Aiken since 1953 and retired from E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Pipkin, Johnson City, TN and her sister, Doreen Pascal, Martinez, GA; a son, James Mark Greene, Johnson City, TN and two grandchildren, Lin (Todd) Stevens and Steven Ray-Carl Baxley and a great grandson, Jayden Stevens; nieces Janice (Ronnie) Merritt and Carolyn (Denny) Lundburg and a nephew, Joe Greene.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his first wife, Maudell Greene; second wife, Katie Reynolds Greene; a sister, Lilla Mae Dobson and two brothers, Hubert Greene and Morris Greene.
Friends may call from five until eight o'clock in the evening on Thursday the 5th of September at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home on East Pine Log Road in Aiken.
Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday the 6th of September at Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton, where the Rev. Brancie Stephens and the Rev. Mike Bell are to officiate. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Charles Key, Harold Key, Rick Willard, Donnie Chambers, Chucky Chambers and Gerald McMurray. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Bible Study Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Corinth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 454, New Ellenton, SC 29809 for the Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
